You can wear diamond cufflinks with either a black or white evening jacket. The actor Pierce Brosnan is probably one of the best examples of this, as in his roles as James Bond (who always wore a dinner jacket) and Thomas Crown (in the Thomas Crown Affair) he was the epitome of the desirable, well groomed and elegantly dressed modern man. During his burglary raids in this film the millionaire looked handsome, bored by the whole idea of money and always wore cufflinks!
Make sure you feel comfortable wearing cufflinks and be careful not to use them to draw attention to yourself. If you watch television presenter Chris Tarrant when he is hosting programmes like Who Wants To Be A Millionaire you will notice that he has an annoying habit of continually fiddling with his cuffs and fingers!
There is a Manhattan based businessmen whose obsession is cufflinks and he owns over 1650 pairs. His theory on the resurgence in their popularity is that it began with President Ronald Reagan wearing them and being copied by other prominent figures and celebrities. Also the French or double cuff shirts which are needed to wear cufflinks used only to be made in white but now manufacturers are producing them in a range of colours.
The metal which holds your diamonds is also important. Gold, silver, platinum, titanium of whatever, you should be guided by your watch or ring. Try and match your jewellery and do not wear gold cufflinks studded with diamonds if you have a silver watch. If it has a leather strap it will be easier to select cufflinks which go with your wedding or signet ring.
